LA, LA. Eine Stadt von der mir vor allem angekuendigt wurde, wie haesslich sie doch sei. Aber seht selbst, ein paar huebsche Flecken gibts dann doch.
LA, LA. A town where everyone said, how ugly it is, when we talked about it. But see for yourself.
Das ist der eine Teil des Getty-Museums, das Getty-Center. Die ausgestellten Kunstwerke sind ganz ok, wieder einmal beeindruckt mich aber vor allem die Darstellung der Kunst. Man faehrt mit einer kleinen Kapsel auf einen Berg, wo man dann diese Architektur findet, mit vielen kleinen Stellen, die es sich zu entdecken lohnt. Alles eingefasst in ein stimmiges Gesamtkonzept. Und dann haengen halt noch ein paar Bilder rum. Witzige Pointe an der Sammlung: In einem Amerika, welches Nippel zensiert, laeuft man durch Raeume, die im Kern nur nackte Brueste enthalten. Okay, ist eine Weile her, dass die guten Romantiker oder spaeter die Salonmaler das auf Papier gebannt haben, aber es ist doch immer wieder lustig zu sehen, wie die Vorzeichen unter denen wir etwas sehen so viel aendern. Oder inwiefern staatlich nicht unterstuetzte Kunst mehr Brueste enthaelt? Hab nicht gezaehlt und bevor Fragen kommen auch nicht fotographiert. Da muesst ihr schon selbst hin. ;)
This is the one part of the Getty-Museum, the Getty-Center. The displayed art is alright. What was far more impressive is the way of displaying. You drive up in these tiny futuristic capsules, where you find these kind of architecture, where you can spend ours exploring and relaxing. Everything molds together in this harmonious general concept. And then you have a few pictures in there. Funny point: In this America, know for censorship of so many things you go through rooms full of naked boobs. Okay, its been some time that they where painted by romanticists and saloon painters, but its always funny to see, that the surrounding chance someones view so dramatic. Or why there are so many. Maybe private art has to somewhat more appeal in this direction, than state-run art. Didn't count and before you ask, didn't make pictures. You have to go there yourself. ;)

Die andere gute Seite an LA sind die riesigen, breiten, wunderschoenen Straende. Und der Fahrradweg fuehrt mitten durch.
The other nice side of LA are those huge, broad, beautiful beaches. And the cycling path goes right through it.

Von der anderen Seite habe ich leider nicht allzu viele Fotos gemacht. LA ist kein riesiger Moloch, aber eine nicht enden wollende amerikanische Kleinstadt, durchzogen von mehr Highways als ich aufzaehlen koennte und riesigen Infrastrukturprojekten wie diesem Kanal. An dem Stueck habe ich davon profitiert, ansonsten war es laut und jederzeit dermassen viele Autos unterwegs, dass ich daran nicht wirklich meine Freude hatte.
There are not many pictures of the other side of LA. LA might not be the big Moloch, but its a never ending small town, traversed by more Highways and streets than you could count and big infrastructures like this canal. On this part they changed it bike-friendly but in general it was loud, there where too many cars and its simply not a nice city.
Diese Gegensaetze praegen auch die Umgebung. Immer wieder findet man so wunderschoene Kuestenabschnitte, die einen vieles vergessen lassen, was man vorher gesehen hat, doch dann dreht man sich um und sieht ... Oelfoerderanlagen direkt neben dem Strand, heruntergekommene Stadtteile und so weiter.
These contrasts characterize also the surrounding towns. Whenever you find a little piece of paradise, beautiful beaches or marvelous architecture you turn around and see the opposite. Oil production facilities, run down infrastructure and towns...
Neid ;) Ich will auch mal surfen, aber ich komme nicht dazu.
Jealous. I want to surf, but so far, no luck.
