Titicacasee und La Paz, lago Titicaca y La Paz

Nach einem sehr langen Aufenthalt in Cusco ging es dann doch endlich weiter.

After a looong stay in Cusco I resumed my travels.

Después de una larga estancia en Cusco aquí hay un resumen de mis viajes…

Nur ein kleiner Pass, dann beginnt der Teil, den ich in meinem Tagebuch "Brandenburg" getauft habe.

Only a small mountain pass, afterwards starts the part that I called "Brandenburg" in my diary.
 Pasada una pequeña montaña, empieza la sección en mi diario a la que he llamado Brandemburgo porque….

.. weil es einfach so verdammt leer und flach ist. Nein, war schoen. :) Nicht weil es unbedingt einfacher war, der Wind hat die Steigung ersetzt, aber es war mal eine nette Abwechslung.

.. because it was damn empty and flat. No I enjoyed it. :) Not necessarely it was easier, the wind replaced the elevation, but it was a nice change of pace after all the mountains.

…pues  el camino es tan increíblemente plano y vacío. Pero claro, lo disfruté. Y no fue necesariamente más fácil recorrerlo porque el viento sustituyó lo empinado pero  fue un buen cambio.

Puno-Suchbild. Was findet sich normalerweise nicht direkt im abendlichen Feierabendtrubel? Kleiner Tipp: Wiegt bestimmt 60 Tonnen.

Puno-Search-Game. What do you normally don't find in the evening between stands and people enjoying their ... I'm puzzled to find out that you don't have an english word for "Feierabend". The time after work. Anyway, there is a small hint: It weights about 60 tons.

Kleine Ausfahrt zu den Schilfhuetten auf den schwimmenden Schilfinseln in den Schilfgebieten des Titicacasees.

Small trip to the reed huts on the reed islands in the reed area of the Titicaca lake.
 Pequeño viaje a las chozas de caña  en las islas cañeras  en el cañaveral del Titicaca.

Unser erster Campspot am Titicacasee. Wir befinden uns auf einer Klippe oberhalb der Strasse und werden mit einem wunderbaren Sonnenuntergang belohnt.

 Nuestro primer campamento en el Titicaca. Estamos en un acantilado arriba de la carretera y recompensados con una gran puesta de sol.

Wir haben diese Wolke noch Ewigkeiten in der Nacht betrachtet, vor allem weil sie im Sekundentakt von Blitzen durchzogen wurde.

We watched this cloud for quite a while. Mainly because there where lightnings in and below it all the time after the sunset.
 Estuvimos mirando esta nube por un largo tiempo. Principalmente porque después de la puesta del sol presentaba constante actividad de rayos.

Start am naechsten Morgen. So gut wie es halt nur geht.

Start the next day. As good as it gets.
 Comenzando el siguiente día. No puede ser mayor.

Der Abschied von Peru und das Tor nach Bolivien.

Ein paar Planken, ein 40 PS Motor, voilà: Eine Faehre. Axel war schon andere Gefaehrte in Mittelamerika gewohnt und geniesst es offensichtlich mehr als ich.

A few planks and a 40 PS engine make up a ferry. Not what we are used to but enough to get us over the lake. Axel seems to be used to this kind of basic engineering and can enjoy the trip a little bit more than I do.

Unos tablones, un motor de 40 HP y voilà: un transbordador. Al parecer Axel está más acostumbrado a esta  tipo de tecnología y disfruta el viaje un poco más de lo que yo lo hago.

  

Unser 2. Campspot auf einer Halbinsel.

Our second camp spot on a half island. 

Nuestro segundo campamente sobre una media Isla.

Evo Morales. Er ist ueberall. Ob auf Plakaten, im Radio oder eben auch mal hier, am Wegesrand auf einer Kundgebung. (Er ist der Typ rechts am Mikrofon, mit dem Hut.)

Nachdem wir durch neu entstandene Staedte wie Juliaca und El Alto gefahren sind, die boese gesagt Moloche sind und denen man auch lieb nur einen sehr begrenzten Charme abgewinnen kann, kamen wir nach La Paz. Unsere Erwartungen waren durch Erzaehlungen und bisher Gesehenes etwas gedrueckt, so fuhren wir in den Talkessel ein, den La Paz komplett beherrscht.

After driving through cities like Juliaca and El Alto, that are new grown molochs, we didn't expect much of La Paz. After hearing and in other towns seeing not the most pleasant things we drove into the valley that La Paz occupies as a hole.
 Después de pasar por nuevas ciudades como Juliaca y El Alto, no teníamos grandes expectativas para La Paz. Después de haber visto y oído  cosas no muy placenteras en otras ciudades pasamos por la Cuenca que la Paz ocupa en su totalidad.

Aber wir wurden angenehm ueberrascht. Neben den ueblichen Kolonialbauten ist La Paz nicht unbedingt das, was ich eine Schoenheit nennen wurde. Trotzdem hat es einen schwer zu beschreibenden Charme, der La Paz zur ersten Stadt in Suedamerika macht, in der ich es mir vorstellen koennte zu leben. Lebendige Strassen, Geschaefte, witzige Loesungen fuer Platzprobleme (bis hin dass unter der Kathedrale Geschaefte untergebracht sind, siehe Bild oben), gute Preise, nette Menschen ... und auch ganz huebsche Frauen machen La Paz zu einer Entdeckung, die ich so nicht erwartet haette.

But we where suprised, in a good way. Next to the mandatory colonial buildings, La Paz isn't exactly a beauty. But it still has a charm that makes La Paz to the first city in south america where I can see myself living. Livly streets, shops, funny solutions for the problems with the space (to the point where they build shops below the main cathedral, see picture above), good prices, nice people ... and good looking women make La Paz to a discovery, that I did not expect.
 Pero nos sorprendimos, de buena manera. Además de algunos edificios coloniales, La Paz no es precisamente una belleza, pero tiene algo no sé qué, que la hace ser una ciudad donde podría imaginarme viviendo. Vívidas calles, tiendas, buenas soluciones para solucionar la falta de espacio (como llegar al punto de abrir una tienda abajo de la catedral. Ver la foto de arriba), buenos precios, gente linda…y bonitas mujeres hicieron de La Paz un descubrimiento que no me esperaba.

Ich musste lachen. Verdammt. Ich muss selbst jetzt beim Schreiben wieder lachen. Gefunden im Nationalen Kunstmuseum Boliviens.

I had to laugh. Damn. Even now, while writing this, I have to laugh again. Found in the National Art Museum of Bolivia.

Das letzte Bild fasst den Geist der Stadt ganz gut. Alt neben neu, lebendig und trotz vieler Fehler und Widersprueche doch sehr angenehm. Liegt vielleicht auch an der Nutella, die man hier endlich mal wieder kaufen kann. :)

The last picture summarizes the spirit of the town pretty good. Old next to the new, lively and even with all the mistakes and problems they have very comfortable. That ... and maybe partly that you can buy Nutella.

La foto de arriba resume el espíritu de la ciudad muy bien. Viejo junto a Nuevo, con vida y hasta con errores y problemas la pasan bien. Eso y…uno puede comprar Nutela .
